Benefits of AS 9100, 9110 & 9120

The aerospace world is a unique group of organisations who are dependent on each other to manufacture a product that operates within an unforgiving environment. As a result of the specialist nature of the work, all aerospace activities are closely monitored in order to ensure that risks are minimised.

The large aircraft producers have ensured that the AS 9100 series of Standards maintain that monitoring and are steadily cascading the requirement to be certified to the AS 9100 series further down the supplier chain. Once your organization is part of the ‘World Wide Club’ then the benefits of visibility on the world wide aerospace database, OASIS, where your potential is seen by other aerospace Companies, will materialise.

The AS 9100 standards are based on ISO 9001:2008 so any work you have already done on ISO 9001 will not be wasted and the move to AS 9100 can be seamless.

Benefits of BS 25999

From my own experience I have seen incidents occur during my 39 years in the Royal Air Force and know that whilst the incident is happening, to have well trained staff acting in accordance with a practised plan can greatly reduce the impact of any incident. Two Companies that I have been involved with in the last 5 years have had relatively minor fires but each has stated that the development of a business Continuity plan enabled them to recover full production very quickly with the minimum of fuss. When incidents occur that have not been experienced before the use of a well thought out plan enables shocked staff to respond quickly and positively. Key suppliers and customers can be notified of the impact of an incident before they find out on the television and before competitors step in and try and capture your hard won business.

Benefits OF ISO 9001:2008

Because of the responsibilities called for in the ISO 9001:2008 Standard, organisations should see an increased involvement of top management with regards to the Quality Management System (QMS).

With the QMS in place and working for you, your organisation will be focused towards the established Quality Goals. Management is provided with data on a continual basis and is able to see progress (or lack thereof) towards goals and take appropriate action. The organised, scheduled process of conducting Management Reviews ensures that this evaluation takes place effectively. It provides the mechanism for reviewing goals and performance against them on a scheduled basis, and for taking action based on the evaluation.

Increased productivity results from the initial evaluation and improvement of processes that occurs during the implementation process and from improved training and qualification of employees. Better documentation and control of processes leads to consistency in performance and less waste through scrap and rework. Managers experience fewer late night troubleshooting calls and employees receive more information, enabling them to troubleshoot problems on their own. In addtion customer satisfaction is more likely to be achieved through better On Time Delivery, resulting in fewer customer complaints.
